Neither model is universally better. CEXs offer deeper liquidity, fiat on-ramps, and a simpler user experience, while DEXs offer self-custody, permissionless listings, and access to tokens long before they reach centralized platforms. Most active crypto investors end up using both, and knowing when each makes sense is more useful than picking one exclusively.
The right choice also depends on what kind of investor you are. A long-term holder buying Bitcoin monthly has very different priorities from an active trader chasing new token launches, and applying a one-size-fits-all answer to both situations tends to produce either unnecessary risk or unnecessary friction that could easily be avoided with a clearer read on the tradeoffs.
